The Tokyo Anime Award Festival (TAAF) 2026 has unveiled its main visual, a representation of spring's essence. This artwork was created by character designer Toko Yatabe and art director Mai Ichioka, known for their work on the animated feature film The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe. The visual incorporates Japanese motifs such as Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms, and an owl, which is inspired by Ikebukuro, the festival's host city. The illustration was selected to reflect both the festival's forward-looking approach and Japanese cultural elements.

Since its establishment in 2014, TAAF has served as a global platform for promoting anime culture and industry development. It highlights emerging talents and showcases works from Japan and other countries. The festival features two main competitive sections: the Competition Division, which accepts unreleased international anime, and the Anime of the Year Division, which recognizes outstanding domestic titles. The 2026 festival is scheduled to take place in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from March 13 to 16.
