Date A Live Creators’ Hit Light Novel 'King’s Proposal' Greenlit for Anime Adaptation

Fans of fantasy and supernatural thrillers have received news of an anime adaptation for the light novel series, King’s Proposal (Ōsama no Propose). Kadokawa officially confirmed this adaptation. The series is written by Koushi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, the creators known for the Date A Live franchise. The announcement was made during the Fantasia Bunko Hōsōkyoku Aki no Dai Kanshasai livestream event in October 2025. Specific details regarding the animation studio, release date, and full production team have not yet been disclosed.
Since its debut in 2021 under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint, King’s Proposal has developed a dedicated readership. Its eighth volume was released by August 2025. The series also has an ongoing manga adaptation, illustrated by Nemo Kurio.
The Narrative of King's Proposal
The story focuses on Mushiki Kuga, an ordinary high school student who unexpectedly inherits the powers and physical form of Saika Kuozaki. Saika is a powerful witch tasked with preventing global catastrophe every 300 hours. Mushiki must now navigate a magical academy, maintain his secret identity, and quickly master Saika's abilities to fulfill his role as a potential savior of the world.

Yen Press holds the English licensing rights for the light novel, making the series available to an international audience. To mark the anime announcement, artist Tsunako released a special illustration, which gained attention on social media platforms. Given the creators' previous success with the multi-season Date A Live anime and its related films, King’s Proposal is anticipated to be a notable addition to the fantasy anime genre. Its combination of magical combat, supernatural mysteries, and a secret identity storyline is expected to offer an engaging viewing experience. Further information on the anime's production schedule, broadcast details, and promotional content is awaited by fans worldwide.
