After an eight-year wait, Kyoto Animation has officially announced its anime adaptation, "Sparks of Tomorrow," known in Japan as "20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku." This series is scheduled to debut in 2026. The announcement was made at the “KyoAni no Sekai-ten” event in Kyoto, where the first official trailer and a main visual were revealed.

Based on Hiro Yuki’s light novel, "Sparks of Tomorrow" is set in an era defined by steam power. The narrative follows Kihachi Sakamoto and Inako Momokawa as they navigate a society undergoing significant change.

The voice cast includes Yuma Uchida, known for Megumi Fushiguro in "Jujutsu Kaisen," as Kihachi Sakamoto. Sora Amamiya, recognized for Chizuru Ichinose in "Rent-A-Girlfriend," voices Inako Momokawa. Both actors have expressed enthusiasm for their roles, with Uchida emphasizing the importance of historical authenticity and Amamiya noting the series' blend of emotional depth and humor.

Tatsuhiko Urahata, with credits including "Haganai" and "Hi Score Girl," is overseeing the series scripts. Kohei Okamura, known for "Free! The Final Stroke" and "Sound! Euphonium," serves as chief animation director and character designer. Takaaki Suzuki, from "Violet Evergarden" and "Strike Witches," is credited with the worldview setting, and Hitomi Koto composes the musical score.

With its unique historical setting, experienced creative team, and notable voice talent, "Sparks of Tomorrow" is anticipated to be a significant anime release in 2026. This project is expected to contribute to Kyoto Animation’s legacy. Further announcements, including broadcast schedules and additional cast details, are awaited.
